Answers for research papers' questions and to react to Ted.com

1. How do you feel about your paper? Explain.

I think I tried my best to my research topic. Actually, after I had received my test result at the end of week 5, I felt tired and I didn't want to work a lot for my research. However, I tried to forget it and began to continue my midterm exam and research papers' works. I couldn't explain why after I had begun to write it, I couldn't stop and try to finish it early and earlier. Finally, I finished it with all things that I can do. In fact, I checked it at least 5 times until I felt that I couldn't check it more and I determined to print it out and give it to Lili.

2. If you had a chance to start over, what would you do differently?

Up to now, I feel ok and I'm too tired to think about changing anything of it. Maybe after I finish the oral presentation, I can think a little bit about that. I think my research can reflect my work style and writing structure. Before to start anything, I usually think about how many ways that I can work with it to find the easiest way for me to do. However, I'm a human and obviously, I also have mistakes but I think I reduced them as much as possible in my research. Even if the result's not good, I am still happy with my work and never to be disappointed because I tried my best and the only explanation is my ability can't reach to the goal :)

3. What are some skills you improved in while doing the paper? Explain

I think they're writing and reading skills, to integrate and collect information, the skills of citing and references because we have to use a lot of sources such as  internet, databases, articles and books. If we don't do it quickly, we can't finish the research on time.

To react with the video on ted.com, I think it's very useful. 8 secrets, including passion, serve, push, work, persist, focus, good, ideas are very important to help you to be successful. For example, If you don't have passion or persistence, you can't finish your work with a good result.

Comment the statement of discrimination unit

"Oh, Great Spirit, keep me from ever judging a man until I've walked in his moccasins."
I think this statement is talking about people's attitudes and behaviors to the other groups from offshore countries, continents and skin colors. People shouldn't  judge others by valuing their appearance, social classes or just their own cultures because they can be judged by the higher class people or other people groups. Besides that,  people should recognize others' feeling when they are discriminated as if they are in the same situation. In fact, nobody wants to suffer bad feelings because of discrimination, therefore, don't do that with others when they also can't accept it as the circumstance happens to themselves. That's just my ideas, hope you guys can contribute more information and give me some feedback. Thank you very much!

Population

1. How many children did your grandparents have? What about your parents? How many children do you (want to) have?

My grandfather's family has 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girls.
My grandmother's family has 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys.
My parents' have 2 children, my younger brother and me.
Actually, I like a big family so I hope to have about 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters :D

2. What is the population of your country? What impact does the population have on the quality of life there?

My country's population is about 82 million people. I don't think that's a good news, too many people makes the traffic jams in my country become more and more complicated. People need to have land to live, so we have many problems with food and forest.

3. Has there been a significant population shift in your country from rural areas to urban areas? If yes, what are the consequences?

Big cities are always attractive with a lot of rural people in my country because big cities are the symbol of development, good education and job opportunities. However, people in urban areas don't want a big amount of people from somewhere else comes to their city because it makes the cities becomes more crowded, complicated and also increases crimes. Besides that, the rural people can earn more money than their work as a farmer in their hometown even though it's more tired and a lot of difficulties to adapt with urban culture.

Life of Pi

    • In Life of Pi, I am interested in part 2 and 3, the reading and discussion phase. Because of in these parts, the author uses abundant imagination which implies an incredible story to describe extraordinary abilities of humans to cope with harsh situations and the competition to survive in the animal kingdom. In addition, to complete Pi's story, the author gives us 2 multiple endings. Firstly, the animals kill others to survive. Secondly, people kill others for the same purpose. Finally, the audiences can choose the ending for their own. It depends on acknowledge of them by following the events and details in this novel. However, in my opinion, I choose the first one because I don't want to believe that people can kill and butcher others to survive even though it can happen.
    • I also like the "Written Review" phase because I can write about my opinions about this novel and improve my skills. In fact, I think it helps me a lot to complete my work and shows overall ideas to conclude this project. Thanks for reading my topic!
